discuss industry trends, issues and bounce ideas. Versatex then tries to implement those ideas. Kapres provides an example. "Everybody in this industry has manufac- tured 10- or 20-ft. corner boards for years. We picked up a customer in the Baltimore- Washington area who was asking for 12- or 22-ft.-long boards. In that area, they have 9-ft. ceilings and larger floor systems so the 10- and 20-ft. boards did not create a seamless corner on the outside of the building. So we went back to the plant, changed specs and started offering 12- and 22-ft. corners. e contrac- t ors thought it was great; they're no longer splicing corners together and making waste. "I think what happens with a lot of manu- facturers is that the plant becomes the tail that wags the dog," Kapres continues. "e builder and contractor have to use what they're given from the manufacturer and still do custom work in the field. at's an opportunity for us. If we can make slight adjustments to benefit those in the field, it'll have a positive impact on our business." EFFICIENCY Matt Michalski, Kleer's brand manager, speaks to the efficiency of the company's PVC product: "e best efficiency is the elim- ination of callbacks. You have no rot from moisture, no insects and none of the other common problems you have with wood trim." Installation of the Kleer product is very sim- ilar to wood and uses the same tools such as saws and drill bits. "We do recommend using AZEK TRIM requires no special tools or fasteners for installation. The product is impervious to moisture and will not crack, splinter or rot due to moisture. It comes with a white finish that can be painted with an acrylic latex paint with an LRV value above 55 percent. For colors with a higher LRV value, Kleer recommends using a vinyl safe paint.
