new bundle of joy arrived. A relaxing master spa retreat was
central to the overall remodeling vision and had to provide
space for rejuvenation from the demands of parenthood.
e original ensuite bath was stuck in the past. A sunk-
en tub engulfed one corner of the room, while the tiny
shower was barely large enough to function. A massive
L-shaped vanity cabinet consumed considerable square
footage, but contained substantial dead space in the corner
and housed only one sink. Security was also a concern
with an awkward exterior door wedged between the tub
and shower.
e crowning jewel of the dated bath was the water
closet. is confined space looked like something out
of a 1980's B-grade horror film, and its footprint was
barely large enough for use with the saloon style doors
closed. An unusual HVAC ducting application created
an extremely low slanted ceiling, and eerie uplighting
provided the finishing touch that made everyone want
to run away from these cramped quarters.
e remodeled master bathroom was completely
transformed from dark and dated to modern and airy.
