Location: Arlington, Va.
Square footage: 200
Project cost: $112,500
T
he Glickman Design Build team had one month to complete
the renovation of this 18th foor condo for a client with ALS.
Te homeowners were away for the duration of the project,
but returned to fnd a beautiful, accessible bathroom. With
such a restricted time frame, materials were selected for appearance
and with consideration to availability. Design options for the condo's
bathroom were limited and involved relocating some existing items
while completely removing others. An existing medicine cabinet, vanity
base cabinets and sink were relocated within the space while a built-in
cabinet and shelves, electrical work, toilet, sink and new tile were
added. Wood framed partitions were built for an accessible shower,
and a Schluter membrane system was added to the walls and foor of
the shower. Working on the 18th foor provided its own challenges,
but the Glickman team works in condos regularly and knew the ins
and outs of being as efcient as possible when dealing with parking,
elevator and other building issues.
