Postponement of confined spaces standard
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has postponed
enforcement of its Confned Spaces in Construction Standard until Oct. 2, 2015,
to give employers more time for training and acquiring the necessary equipment.
Though the ruling does become efective Aug. 3, OSHA will not issue citations to
employers making eforts to fulfll and comply with the standard.

NKBA design competition issues call for entries
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA)'s annual design competition is
accepting entries of kitchen and bath projects installed between Jan. 1, 2014, and
Aug. 14, 2015. The 2016 NKBA Design Competition will recognize projects in six award
categories, and category winners will automatically be considered for Best Kitchen
and Best Bath Awards. Winners will be honored during an awards event in Las Vegas

Aging population will affect the home improvement market
The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies estimates that of the over 25 million
households ages 65 and over today, 44 percent have some need for home
accessibility features due to disability or difculty using components of the home,
such as kitchen or bathroom facilities, without assistance. Research from the Joint
Center examines the implications of an aging society on the home improvement
