Architectural Element CG&S; Design-Build, Austin, Texas, cgsdb.com Project name: Limestone Art Wall Location: Austin, Texas Square footage: 4 ft. 10 in. by 8 ft. Cost: $6,338 The homeowners wanted to incor- porate "climbers" artwork by sculptor Bill Starke into their remodel. Hand- chiseled limestone slabs were recessed into a central wall, and the sculptures appear to suspend from the ceiling but actually are bolted directly into the limestone. Hidden spotlighting high- lights the climbers and creates drama. HONORABLE MENTION Architectural Element Kitchen and Bath Galleries, Raleigh, N.C., kandbgalleries.com Project name: Silver Shadow Fireplace Location: Raleigh, N.C . Square footage: 22 Cost: $5,500 The original masonry fire- place received a face-lift to give it a more contemporary look. The updated fireplace setting features a locally handcrafted custom walnut mantel, 3-D marble tile work and a custom stainless steel surround. Tearing the origi- nal fireplace out was not an option so the new one was designed and installed over the masonry.
