The clients added more than 1,000 sq. ft. to their home, while tying
the disparate sections of the home together to accommodate visiting
children and grandchildren. Though the house sits atop a bluff overlook-
ing the Huron River, the existing structure did not take advantage of
the view. The design in-filled an exterior patio space to create interior
space and a common link between the two ends of the home. The living
space provides expansive views of the valley. A new master bedroom is
designed with a future-ready accessible bath and a walk-in closet that
doubles as a safe room; it can withstand a 2x4 projectile traveling at 200
mph. A cross-gabled roof form was created in response to determin-
ing where the optimal location was for solar roof panels, which were
