What I find more exciting is the wisdom shared by many Top 500 remodelers on their applications. Therefore, I'm using the space on this page to share some of this insight. We gather this information each year but we don't always have space to share it, so this year I'm sacrificing the editor's note to give you a sample of the answers to the question, "How do you differentiate your business from your competition?" "Doing the right thing when no one is looking." Sheldon Yellen, Belfor Holdings "Asking many questions. We have a no- regrets mentality." Tom Plant, Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of Suburban Md. & D.C. "We get to the point of sale faster than most." Thomas Capizzi Jr., Capizzi Home Improvement "We use eco-friendly products, and recy- cle and reuse. We remodel while saving the planet. We plant trees with every remodeling project." Moty Ginsburg, Treeium Inc. "My 'personal' pledge to all my customers that they have a 'full 100 percent lifetime warranty.'" Ronald M. Leclerc, Re-Bath of South Louisiana "Promoting a unique approach to con- tracting by applying my experience in the field of nursing, which was my first profes- sion for 19 years. I call this 'Contracting with Care' and the customers love the unique experience of having a woman in charge of a predominantly male dominant field of bathroom remodeling. Since the bathroom is such a personal space, I surround myself with smart, caring women sales experts on my sales team and diligent, professional clean-cut installers and plumbers on my install team." Jennifer Bylo, New England Bath dba Bay State Re-Bath "From a customer's first contact with a Power representative, until the job is com- plete, we promise homeowners a gratifying remodeling experience unlike any home improvement project they have ever out- sourced with the only goal of surpassing their every expectation." Corey Schiller, Power Home Remodeling Group "One-source accountability and team- work from design to build." Keith Vellequette, KBF Design Gallery "Metropolitan is the only company that does bathrooms and nothing else, uses no sub-contractors, gives a 10-year warranty on most materials, and gives a start date and completion date in writing." Richard L. McKenzie Jr., Metropolitan Bath and Tile "Davitt Design Build has exceptional organizational systems in place to make the remodeling process a seamless one. All cli- ents receive a calendar-based schedule dur- ing the design and production phases, which outline agreed-upon deliverable deadlines, meeting dates, production milestones and client selection timetables. This systematic organization and completion of projects on-time is what differentiates Davitt." Matt Davitt, Davitt Design Build "A finer selection of capable contractors." Dan Cassara, DKI Holdings "I really don't think we have a competi- tor in our area. We blow the competition away significantly."
