The Trump administration also voiced its support for the bill. Action is expected to be taken on housing finance reform before the 2020 election. Technology Startup RemodelMate announces expansion A technology startup that connects home- owners with remodelers is ramping up quick and making a splash among trade profes- sionals. Already this year, the company has announced partnerships with SoFi for financing of up $100,000 as well as a part- nership with Havenly for interior designers. Earlier this month, the company announced major backend enhancements to its site. "Our new web application for home- owners and home remodeling contractors includes a sophisticated homeowner- contractor matching algorithm; Stripe and Plaid API integrations for easy, secure online payments with a credit card or bank account; HelloSign API integration for seamless project agreements and documentation; AI- enhanced SMS bots; scheduling capabilities; and custom online dashboards for simple, two-way project management," the company says in a blog post. "With this latest product update, home- owners can find and book a predictable and transparent home renovation contractor in five minutes or less, then manage the whole process online from nuts to bolts. And for contractors, it has never been easier to earn remodeling jobs. "We've digitized the steps of home re- modeling that everyone hates: waiting for a contractor to show up and give you an un- predictable quote, paying for work with cash or check and, of course, having to manage the whole renovation yourself. "You can now book and manage a home renovation online just like you'd book and manage a vacation rental on Airbnb." Market Research Houzz State of the Industry optimistic More than half of residential renovation and design companies cite a positive outlook for 2019 (58 to 80 percent), although this is less than last year (71 to 88 percent). The ma- jority of companies among six of the seven industry groups expect profits to increase in 2019 (63 to 70 percent) and revenue growth in the upper single digits (8 to 9 percent). While companies maintain a positive out- look on the demand for their services in 2019, they are more likely to expect the national econ- omy to deteriorate over the coming year (35 to 61 percent) than improve (11 to 18 percent). One-fiƁh of design-related and over a third of construction-related industries plan to hire in 2019, though companies anticipate challenges to labor availability and costs in the year ahead.
