Kitchen Less Than $75,000 GOLD S&W KITCHENS Longwood, Fla. sandwkitchens.com Project name: Classic Kitchen Project location: Orlando, Fla. Square footage: 163 Project cost: $45,000 Shaker-style, light maple finish cabinetry with a black backsplash and countertops left the small kitchen feeling dark, tight and crowded. e cabi- nets were not old or outdated, but they did not fit with the classic style of this 1920s Mediterranean house. e homeowners sought to open up the space and blend the kitchen with an adjacent nook area without the option to move any walls. Swapping the locations of the refrigerator and range produces a visual space between the kitchen and living room, and reorienting the bar seating area into an L shape makes the kitchen feel twice as large. A bench seat in the nook space creates a cozy banquette, and a wine area across the way helps tie it all together. e glass- front cabinets use wood-stained back panels to match the floor.
