Appliances are flush with the custom bamboo cabinetry, creating a clean, open and balanced space. An organically shaped custom- designed light fixture makes a dramatic statement in the center of the room. The work area is streamlined and clutter-free, allowing for efficient prep, cooking and cleanup. Every detail of the kitchen was designed to give expression to the clients' love for fine art and beautiful objects. 3PCFSU 1FUFSTPO SILVER Custom Design and Construction, El Segundo, Calif. This design/build project helps a large Italian family host traditional dinners and entertain guests. It was important for them to have a traditional kitchen but with all the conveniences of a modern space. Opening up the layout and adding a large center island gives the homeowners an atmosphere ideal for hosting dinner parties with family and friends. WATER & ELECTRICITY DO MIX Solar PV + Accelera® 300 Heat Pump Water Heater We designed our heat pump water heater to be as efficient as possible. We don't waste energy pumping DHW through the heat pump — we transfer the heat from the refrigerant via a wrap- around condenser on the tank. We rely on the heat pump to make hot water, using a single 1700 watt element only as back-up (that can even be disabled). We make an 80-gallon tank that over the course of a year is more efficient than a 50-gallon tank. The heat pump portion of an Accelera 300 draws only 500 watts, low enough that solar photovoltaic is a viable option. Use the electric back-up element and you'll probably need grid-tie, but with a full tank of 140°F water, and a 78.6 gallon first hour rating, your daily hot water needs may be satisfied without the back-up element. Solar thermal will always remain a viable solution, but now there's another renewable energy option. MADE IN GERMANY » Accelera 300® is #1 in Energy Star ratings with a 2.51 Energy Factor » Reduces hot water costs by up to 80% » 80 gallon storage capacity uses less energy during a year than competing 50 gal. models » 20 sq. ft. wrap-around heat exchanger for efficient energy transfer and no possible contamination of potable water » Single 1700 watt backup element » Removable sacrificial anode with wear indicator helps ensure long life » Reliable German technology & manufacturing backed by a 10 year warranty 800.582.8423 www.stiebel-eltron-usa.com For more information circle 31 ForResidentialPros.com QR September 2012 33 Simply the Best
