D
esign. Material use. Creativity. Functionality. Details. The
winning projects from the 36th annual Master Design Awards
boast all of those attributes, and so much more. Not only
were the judges critical of the project itself, but they also took
into consideration the presentation quality and photography.
(Meet our judges, sidebar on page 40.)
Recognition levels are gold, silver, bronze and honorable mention. Although
all winning projects are mentioned in this issue, only the highest award win-
ning project in each category is pictured and includes a written description.
Not all categories have winners at each level and not all categories have gold
as the highest honor.
In addition to the four recognition levels, the judges gave special recognition
to Best in Show and Judges' Vision. Best in Show was selected from the list of
winners. The Judges' Vision award encompasses what the judges deemed to
be the best of the best. Its design, execution, response to challenges and aes-
thetics exemplify what the judges believe an award-winning project should be.
This year's entries also included one so unique that the judges wanted to
recognize it, but they didn't believe it fit in any existing category. Read the
sidebar, "Special Recognition," on page 44 to see for yourself why this project
made such an impact on the judges.
We are now proud to present this year's class of the Master Design Awards. QR
