LinkedIn member Dennis Schaefer posed the
question: "If you could only have one, either a
website or a Facebook business page, which would you
choose and why?"
"Hands down a website. It's just easier to cater the website to your
specific needs and the way you want rather than being restricted to
Facebook guidelines. With a website, I can do a lot more with getting
traffic and potential clients to my website like SEO, back links, keywords,
etc. Facebook is a great tool but it does not replace the need for a
website. Consumers doing online searches would rather find your website
than your Facebook page." Victor Resto
"Has to be a website first, since everything (Facebook, Twitter and all
other opportunities) could point to your site. Facebook engages more
for repeat business while a website will mostly be for new customer
acquisitions. You can also pay to advertise with Facebook anytime, while
your website can generate free organic leads for life. It's a no-brainer
answer, but a good question to stimulate thinking." Brian Javeline
"I would go for a website with a blog and great landing page. Social
media sites, such as Facebook pages, are only supplements to a website;
I could compare it to a mini-website because there are limitations as to
its offered features. On the other hand, the things that you could do and
offer on your website are far greater. Although you can reach and build a
community on Facebook or other social networks, you could also do the
same thing for your website and blog." Chris Sewell
